ACCOUNTING - Computerised Bookkeeping (ICB)

This is the FORTH module for the National Certificate, Bookkeeping, SAQA ID 58375. It is essential that any Bookkeeper be able to work efficiently on a computer. In this course you will learn how to complete the monthly bookkeeping cycle on Pastel Accounting and Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point programmes. No need to worry if you are not yet competent in Microsoft Word, Excel or Power Point. This programme is divided into 2 sections, Computerised Bookkeeping and Pastel. You will be given a free student version of the Pastel software which is valid for 30 days.

 

You will learn how to:

  • Use a Graphical User Interface based spreadsheet to solve a given problem
  • Use a Graphical User Interface based data based application to solve a given problem
  • Administer accounts receivable and accounts payable on the system
  • Set up the system
  • Installation and registration of Pastel Partner V12
  • Pastel language and navigation
  • Creating and setting up a company in Pastel Partner V12
  • Create and maintain general ledger accounts
  • Create and maintain supplier accounts
  • Create and maintain customer accounts
  • Create and maintain inventory items
  • Take on balances and journals
  • Supplier processing
  • Customer processing
  • Cash book, petty cash and journal processing
  • Month end procedures and year end procedures

 

Student should have completed ICB Payroll and Monthly SARS Returns before starting this course. There is an exam through ICB required for this course.
